Day 4

Friday 15th

Another lovely morning,  no rain but very dark clouds, fog over the hills across from the dam. Kookaburras laughing heaps this morning. I got up and had a cuppa, got the muesli soaking for breakfast. We have decided to sit it out if it rains, the SEQUEB chap camp to let all campers be aware of the coming rains and to move to higher levels than the high mark of dam. We are staying as even 100 mls wouldn’t reach us. We have a plan in case though. Cows have come to visit our bay and drink, sit around our csmp site. Don made a shelter so I could have a shower. Don and I went for a walk around the other side today and found some more camp sites, my kids would love camping here. I have curry sausages cooking in magic cooker for tea. It rained all night but a good rain for soaking, hope some farmers got it. We have our containers out collecting water off the tarp roof.

Day 3

Thursday 14th

Woke to a beautiful day so we had breakfast, cleaned up and Don got the tarp up over the camper, so now we are secured for the rains. The dam/lake is low but still lots of water. We have toilets, cold showers and trees. Very uneven ground as it is all just paddocks,so you get what you can. Lots of people with boats, blow up canoes and rubber ducks.  Don and Jack went rowing several times. I got tea all prepared early so didnt matter about the weather. A chap called around to all the sites, hes getting a delivery service up and running and was asking about what we might want. Gets the stock from Monto and keeps his delivery fees low. His email for info is womble_91@hotmail.com Jamie Harris is his name. He owns the 4×4 shop in town. We went for a big walk around all the bays, so big. Havent been to the wier yet. Had chicken tonight with veggies all in one pot. Don had a big fall today, thought he’d knocked himself out for a second, but he dented his head at the forehead by the hair line, got the bleeding stopped and put a cross plaster on it. Hes ended up with a very big bruise on his leg at the top. Weather does not know what it’s doing but its overcast and windy.  Not as cold tonight with the cloud cover.

Day 2

Wednesday 13th

Had breakfast took some photos, Kumbia is a lovely town,  park is great, free but a donation for power. Beautiful scenery along the way to Kingaroy.. Don got some photos of a couple of pubs he’s always wanted to shoot.  Heading off to Ban Ban springs for lunch. What a neat stop over here. Free, toilets, fresh water bubbling out of the ground.  Great history about the Aborigines from this area.  When we got to Gayundah what a nice town,  stopped at the Food Works, got everything. Just out of town there is a Wier and its free camping as well by the river north side. We got to Ceratodus (this name comes from a fish that comes from this area.) free camp spot and there were firemen and trucks everywhere,  they were about to do a burn off on both sides of the road and with the winds we decided to move onto the Wuruma Dam as it was only about 30 min further,  so got us here at 5 pm. This place is amazing,  so big, many bays, and lots of campers, but still room. We started cooking tea and it bucketed down, so we cooked our tea under Jacks awning. Black clouds everwhere. Cleaned up and all had a hot drink and bed early it was so cold.

Day 1

Tuesday 12 th.

Left Deception Bay at 10.30 am. Good run thru to Jacks and Alice (who we are all traveling together), for a cuppa at Kilcoy. Left there at 11am and went thru to Nanango to Allan and Wendys. Had lunch at there place. Skies are looking very black. We hit the road and 10 mins it was raining. We are on our way to Kumbia for the night. I left my bushmans cap at Wendy’s,  so I will be going back to get it.
We got to Kumbia at 3pm and set up in pouring rain,  got drenched and very cold. Had a one pot tea and cleaned up under the annex from the car. It did ease off about 6pm. Went to bed early we were both very tired. Awoke to a fine day.

Caloundra break 4 nights.

Tuesday 24th June

Here are a few photos of my time away in Caloundra. Had a great time, weather was fine and cold so cannot complain. Lots of relaxing and walking. Had a couple of nice sunrises and being on the 10th floor, well how good was that, so didn’t even have to leave the apartment for those morning shots. 🙂

Trip Home

Saturday 24th May 2014

After leaving our friends place at Withcott I did some shooting from the car window, just having a bit of fun actually, here are a couple of shots to see. It’s quiet a interesting thing to do and see as you don’t have much time to decide. All these images were taken with a Fuji film XP older version, so I was impressed with the quality.

Day 22

28th April Monday

Last night was awesome, clouds rolled in and we sat by the lake watching a lightning show across the lake, we got no rain but further down to the east they did. Had breaky by the fire and at the moment it is fine weather. We got cleaned up and headed off to Swinging Bridge, Cooyar to stay the night on our way home, but we had a lot of rain traveling there. We had lunch at the general store, asked about their weather and she said we are going to cop it, so in spite of a lovely camping spot we ate and left, figured as we are so close to home, will not stay. Got home late.

It is nice to get home and we are both really tired so will take a few days to unpack, clean everything up and pop it back for the next trip. 🙂  can’t wait.

Day 20

26th April Saturday to 27th April Sunday

Off to Dalby, said cheerio to Kate and  Chris. They left before us.Packed up and left. Got to Dalby, had a few things to do, also fueled up, toilet dump and top up the water, our regular routine in big towns. We headed off down the Moonie Hwy and got to Lake Broadwater, checked the place out, lots of people but decided by Sunday they will mostly be going home as the holiday weekend is finished, and they did, 🙂 such a beautiful spot, lake full of water, it’s a very big lake as is their mossies, 😦 Very big area for camping, lots of trees, hot showers for a $1, flushing toilets, lots of water birds so its a nice relaxing time  winding down to home time. Boo Hoo. There was a snake in the trees down from us, I did not see it, but the man told me to be aware, I said, I’m always aware for snakes. We also had a opossum visit us both nights he was too friendly but so cute, still had to give it it’s marching orders.

Day 19

Friday 25th Anzac… Lest we forget….

Remember them I did down by the river, beautiful. There has been a few people arriving at Archers Crossing today. My friends took their canoe up the river, caught them here while I was taking photo’s on the shore line, so was Kate. I tried some star trails last night but there were a few to many clouds, lovely all the same. Had tea, sat by the fire with Kate and Chris.

Day 16

22nd April Tuesday to 23rd Wednesday

Packing up today and going to stay in Miles as we need to do a big wash. The fire was still going this morning so had my cuppa by it, so nice. Caravan Park pretty run down but clean enough, more to the point the washing machines were not to exe, so I got 3 loads washed and dried, hot showers and went to pub for tea. Was a very noisy night as we are right on the Hwy trucks all night, never mind catch up tonight.

24th April Thursday

Up at 4.30 am made a cuppa and watched the sky change, all the miners heading off to work or coming home, so much mining and gas mining  going on, unbelievable. Heading to Chinchilla to get Dons tablets, but we couldn’t get them so they ordered into Dalby so when we go there on Saturday they will have them for him. Off we go to Archer’s Crossing, get there and Chris & Kate are there, they decided to drag the holiday out a few more days. Stayed a couple of days here, lovely lot of water in the river, very green, some sort of algae in it so we did not put the rubber ducky in. Went for a big walk, did some night shooting and sat around the fire with Kate & Chris, bed by 8 pm.
