Went for a drive today and did the Tarkine circuit, called into Trowutta, Rebecca’s Lagoon and Couts Beach.

Tuesday 29th April

I woke real early and got up and got the fire going, frost on the ground and mist over the river, lovely spot but we decided to move on as its too cold.

Saturday 26th April

Weather not looking to good, but we did get a break so thought we’d go and see the Tamar Wetlands in Launceston. So close to the city it’s incredible. Get a good view of the hills that are built on.

We headed back from the West Coast via Rosebery and the Murchison highway, then we turned off along the May Plains, then onto Mole Creek Rd. Was lovely country driving. Back to Launceston.

We had a day to rest so decided to go up to the falls, these falls are in the township of Strahan and not far at all, we just took our time and then enjoyed the rest of the day chilling out at the cabin, weather was overcast and cooling down. Nice day though.

Woke to a lovely sunny day for our Gordon Rive Cruise, we have to be down there early and also we wanted a good parking spot. Our cabin was only around the corner so that was handy, here are a few images to see what it was like.

Thank goodness they stopped logging it but you can see where they have.IMG_4371  We got off the boat and did a walk up into the forest, just another world.IMG_4399  One of the other cruise’sIMG_4431  Jetty where we went onto Sarah Island and learned all about the convict days and how cruely they were treated, very moving as the lady acted out as she told the story. Tuesday 21st April

Well its been a couple of days getting things sorted to head off to West Coast, staying at Dons Son’s place. On our way over to the west coast via Lake St Clair on the Lyell Highway. Spent a bit of time there. Then on over to Strahan, via Queenstown.

IMG_4043 Pumphouse point, has the old Pumphouse made into Accommodation on Lake St Clair. It is Tasmania’s newest wilderness retreat.IMG_4064  Taken from the road in.IMG_4050  They have beautiful bush tracks to wander through.IMG_4049  This is one of the bays off the lake, it truely is a peaceful place.IMG_4071  Heading to the right.IMG_4078  Some of the lovely hills on the trip.IMG_4091  Had to take this, it is from the car as you can see, this is the first glimpse we got of Queenstown, totally a mess from the mining in the early days. Saturday 18th April

Woke to a lovely sunny day, I was up early and went for a bush walk with in the grounds and came across heaps of signs, one I have posted, the rest were telling about the Bandicoot, wallaby, Echidnas, etc, was very interesting. After breakfast went to check out the beach, the kids have gone into some markets that they wanted to check out, both being chef’s and cooks that is great for them. The airport is right by the sea, watching a plane come into land as if it is going to hit the tree tops is quiet interesting.

Friday 17th April

We drove from Bruny Island yesterday to Seven Mile Beach Hobart, staying in Wyndham Resort for 3 nights, some luxury will be gratefully received. Got in late, and saw that we have kangaroo paw flowers I love them, these haven’t opened yet..
