Tuesday 19th.

It was pretty cold last night. Had breaky and got cleaned up ready to hit the road. 10 am and we are off.
We got to Calliope and stopped to get a few things and went down by the river for morning tea. J &A are staying here while we go to my friends place in Rockhampton for a night and will meet us up on the Yepoon road on Wednesday.  Was great spending time with my friend, we chattered until 1 am in the morning, crikey, haven’t done that for years. Don got lots of stuff done on his computer. Bought a pair of sandals and a fleecy shirt, some wool for something to knit when the weather is not good.

Monday 18th.

Very cold night, pea soup this morning, fog real thick, we had a cuppa and sat in the sun to thaw. Went for walk around the area, real nice, we will be back to stay for a week. The Dam is lovely with dead trees everywhere. Some person has planted some gardens with veggies and has painted on rocks to please water me and pick me, dont pull me out by the roots so I can keep growing and feed you. Please put scrapes in the compost pit. Most of the campers near the water sites have gone by 10am so if one came in by 10 you would get a pick of good site. The boys went rowing so I had my shower and washed my hair, did my washing. Morning tea time now, 10.30am what a great life. I ended up by cutting my hair, a wee bit short but a month will help. The days pass quiet quickly when you get chatting with others campers etc. We did star trails again tonight. Rang my friend and said where we are. Heading to Rocky tomorrow to stay with her.

Day 5 & 6

Saturday 16th 
Still raining. We have apostle birds visiting,  they are so funny.  Well it’s been a very wet day and we are going to leave tomorrow now. We have collected enough water off the tarp to fill all the containers and the camper. The farmers are going to be so happy with this rain as it’s been very soaking. We are having left overs for tea tonight so be easy. It’s very windy and blowing the rain in to where I cook. Once tea was cooked we all retreated into the camper lounge room. We have had the generator on to top up everything. The freezer is doing so much better even without the sunlight, so the heavy wiring Don did I feel has made a big difference. Rained all night, I just hope its fine in the morning to dry out a bit before packing up. No photo’s for today.
Sunday 17th
Well, we awoke to the most beautiful day, clear skies, sunny and a light breeze,  we will get everything dried before packing. We were on the road by 9.50 am. Had a great run thru to Monto, real lovely country side. We fueled up, $1.61 a litre. Dumped the toilet waste and got some grociers. Had morning tea then headed off up thru Many Peaks and then Mungungo, beautiful drive up over the range and then down thru the Boyne Valley, this is in the Gladstone region. We arrived here at the Boynedale Bush Camp at 3 pm, just good time for afternoon tea. The Dam here is feed by the Boyne River then flows out to Gladstone. We were all in bed early as it got very cold. We have coverage up by the toilet block sometimes. Did some star trails at 7 pm beautiful.

Day 4

Friday 15th

Another lovely morning,  no rain but very dark clouds, fog over the hills across from the dam. Kookaburras laughing heaps this morning. I got up and had a cuppa, got the muesli soaking for breakfast. We have decided to sit it out if it rains, the SEQUEB chap camp to let all campers be aware of the coming rains and to move to higher levels than the high mark of dam. We are staying as even 100 mls wouldn’t reach us. We have a plan in case though. Cows have come to visit our bay and drink, sit around our csmp site. Don made a shelter so I could have a shower. Don and I went for a walk around the other side today and found some more camp sites, my kids would love camping here. I have curry sausages cooking in magic cooker for tea. It rained all night but a good rain for soaking, hope some farmers got it. We have our containers out collecting water off the tarp roof.

Day 3

Thursday 14th

Woke to a beautiful day so we had breakfast, cleaned up and Don got the tarp up over the camper, so now we are secured for the rains. The dam/lake is low but still lots of water. We have toilets, cold showers and trees. Very uneven ground as it is all just paddocks,so you get what you can. Lots of people with boats, blow up canoes and rubber ducks.  Don and Jack went rowing several times. I got tea all prepared early so didnt matter about the weather. A chap called around to all the sites, hes getting a delivery service up and running and was asking about what we might want. Gets the stock from Monto and keeps his delivery fees low. His email for info is womble_91@hotmail.com Jamie Harris is his name. He owns the 4×4 shop in town. We went for a big walk around all the bays, so big. Havent been to the wier yet. Had chicken tonight with veggies all in one pot. Don had a big fall today, thought he’d knocked himself out for a second, but he dented his head at the forehead by the hair line, got the bleeding stopped and put a cross plaster on it. Hes ended up with a very big bruise on his leg at the top. Weather does not know what it’s doing but its overcast and windy.  Not as cold tonight with the cloud cover.

Day 2

Wednesday 13th

Had breakfast took some photos, Kumbia is a lovely town,  park is great, free but a donation for power. Beautiful scenery along the way to Kingaroy.. Don got some photos of a couple of pubs he’s always wanted to shoot.  Heading off to Ban Ban springs for lunch. What a neat stop over here. Free, toilets, fresh water bubbling out of the ground.  Great history about the Aborigines from this area.  When we got to Gayundah what a nice town,  stopped at the Food Works, got everything. Just out of town there is a Wier and its free camping as well by the river north side. We got to Ceratodus (this name comes from a fish that comes from this area.) free camp spot and there were firemen and trucks everywhere,  they were about to do a burn off on both sides of the road and with the winds we decided to move onto the Wuruma Dam as it was only about 30 min further,  so got us here at 5 pm. This place is amazing,  so big, many bays, and lots of campers, but still room. We started cooking tea and it bucketed down, so we cooked our tea under Jacks awning. Black clouds everwhere. Cleaned up and all had a hot drink and bed early it was so cold.

Day 1

Tuesday 12 th.

Left Deception Bay at 10.30 am. Good run thru to Jacks and Alice (who we are all traveling together), for a cuppa at Kilcoy. Left there at 11am and went thru to Nanango to Allan and Wendys. Had lunch at there place. Skies are looking very black. We hit the road and 10 mins it was raining. We are on our way to Kumbia for the night. I left my bushmans cap at Wendy’s,  so I will be going back to get it.
We got to Kumbia at 3pm and set up in pouring rain,  got drenched and very cold. Had a one pot tea and cleaned up under the annex from the car. It did ease off about 6pm. Went to bed early we were both very tired. Awoke to a fine day.
