Day 25

25th Wednesday
The weather is going to be bad on the west coast and not so bad on the east coast so we have decided to go east, leave tomorrow. Get the camper re packed and defrost the freezer, all packed up and will watch the weather tonight as it changes so fast, just like NZ. Well yes the weather has turned bad all over so will sit it out and see. No photos.
26th Thursday
Weather still looking bad for anywhere, so kids have said stay and do day trips as long as you need. We went for a drive along the Midland Hway down to Campbell Town, well what a fantastic place, and free camping. The town is very full of history, there are bricks all along the street both sides for the convicts, their crime, their punishment and what boat they were shipped out on, had a bite to eat and a hot drink its very cold. The bridge here is beautiful. From here we carried onto Ross, another quaint town full of history, the bridge here is well known as well. Decided we still had time to go to Oatlands, well thats just really beautiful, free camping as well, big windmill, didnt muck around for to long as it was getting bitterly cold. Carried onto to Mowbray, Aspley, Bothwell and up over the Lakes Hway, had lunch half way up where it was a bit sheltered. The air has ice in it, its snowing somewhere. Got to a place called Steppes, well cant explane how I felt, but we stopped and took a look around, it is dedicated to this family so we will go back and have a good look, its a big reserve. Then up and over the alpine range, we got sleet at Flintstone and it was landing on the window. carried on home thru Longford, fuelled up, got home at 6.15pm I got tea done for when Katie came home.

Day 24

24th Tuesday
We got sorted and then went to Nile, with it in mind to find a good spot for star trails etc, We drove to where we have been shooting before and saw it in daylight for the first time. Drove up to Deddington lovely countryside but no good areas for night shooting. When we got back to the farm where we really wont to shoot from we decided to go ask the farmer for permission to go into his paddock, and yes it was no problem, so lucky. After this we went to the bakery at Evendale and wow there is a town around the corner, when we drove thru I thought it was just a wee place. Then we drove to Perth along the South Esk River very pretty,

Day 19

19th Thursday
Got up and headed for Ben Lomond, weather looking good at first. Wonderful drive. Got to the Ben Lomond NP and onto the dirt road, bit of corrugation and by the time we got to the registration box we let the tyres down a bit. the cloud was getting lower, fine drizzle, visibility was getting bad and when we got to the bottom of Jacobs Ladder a Ute came down and said it gets worse not good, so we had been thinking along the same lines so turned around and went back. Had a picnic lunch in the shelter shed at the toilet block rest area. Got worse the weather but was fun. Lovely drive down the hill the rest of the trip and once we hit the tar seal junction we pumped air back in the tyres. So much to see on this road still took us all day.

Took all day. After tea we went to Evandale for the Aurora and star trails as we had an alert saying that it was favorable. Was a very good night.

17th Tuesday
We decided to go to Cataract Gorge and to see Ducks Reach, was an old hydro power station, even though the weather has rained and very overcast, had a great day and will do the other end tomorrow. These photo’s were taken with a point and shoot that is waterproof, so not the best images, as it was raining.

Days 13, 14 & 15

13th Friday & 14th Saturday

Had some bits to do on the friday. Saturday we packed up and headed to Melbourne to stay at the van park for one night before catching the Ferry for Tasmania. No photo’s.

15th Sunday
Up and away early as had to be at the boat for 6.30 am. Had a good run and was loaded pretty quickly. Pulled out of port at 8.50 am. Did a walk around the boat and sorted out our room, dumped our stuff and went down for a cuppa. Took photos, bought our National Parks tickets and had a sleep in the afternoon. Day went quiet quickly, takes 9 hours and 25 min to cross over, couldn’t get over how huge Port Phillip bay is. First Off the boat and onto the van park in Devonport, well it was awful actually, very basic but not nice. Oh well it was a roof over our heads and saved us driving on dark to Launceston which is 100 km away in the dark.
